My friend and I just opened a new Dog/Animal "Forum" on Yuku, I'm from the US, she's from the UK. It's just a dog/animal friendly group that love their pets, show photo's, talk, talk about family, play games, make and share siggies/tags, and all in all have a good (G) rated time. I have no idea how to promote this group!

Please don't think I'm an idiot! I simply do not know the ropes of the computer world! Thank you!

Now, hopefully if I did this right you can click on this and it will take you to
our site. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Karen.
I don't think you are an idiot.
It is quite smart to ask for help rather than forging on in the dark

With regard to your site, it obviously is targetted at people who love dogs and animals. What you need to do is find ot forums where animal lovers hang out join and participate. Some forums allow you to attach a signature to every post you submit so I suggest you addd a link to your site using an appropriate keyword as your anchor link

Also free traffic from the search engines is great so try and optimize your site for the search engines. Search engine optimization so I suggest you search online for SEO blogs and free SEO material.

Also try social bookmarking sites. These are sites that you can leave links to websites you find interesting and other people can see your links ie bookmarks and visit your site. I suggest you try digg, del.icio.us and stumbleupon. If your site is a blog, submit it [ or as they say claim it] on technorati

It takes a while for you to see results but the above methods do work

Also try and read some good internet marketing blogs. There is a wealth of information in them and it's free

Finally take a look at the posts in this forum. There is some really cool information here

Good luck

thats really a good question and answer too,
Seo is really a need for most of the sites because most of the people use search engines to find any stuff,
i would advice you to go for a professional SEO who will charge but it helps a lot

Karen,

Um... asking doesn't mean that you are an idiot and I think, it is better to ask questions rather than doing it without any further knowledge.

Back at your question, if you are asking about "on how to promote" your newly launched forum... I suggest you to do some social bookmarking. Social bookmarking is a off-page optimization technique that can help your site to gain traffic and at the same time, you can have backlinks too. It is a technique on which users (like you) can organize, manage, save links and share of their favorite websites/web pages that can viewed by the public.

Here is a list of social bookmarking sites. Hope it helps...
Belated Merry Christmas to you. Best of luck!
