Is wordpress the best option?

I am looking to add a blog to the site I am working on. I want it to be a supplement to the content on my page and provide updates and changing information. I am also looking for a program what will allow me to have a blurb on my main page with the most recent blog(s) (changing based on the newest blog) under the intro blurb.

Is wordpress the best program to use for these types of usages? Would you recommend anything else.

If I need to be more descriptive about what I am looking for just let me know

Personally I prefer Wordpress - it is one of the most popular and versatile blog software packages available. The only time I would NOT use it is if I was setting up a CMS system using Drupal which has a blog module. Otherwise I would almost always use Wordpress and frequently recommend it to my clients.

Wordpress has so many capabilities that put other favorite blogging sites to shame. The ability to tailback URLs with each other, having plug-ins that filter out spammers (not the ones that actually sit @ a blog and contribute viable content, but the ones that try to get away w/ a link by saying 1-3 word phrases like "Hey great blog!") who expect a link w/ minimal feedback to the post @ hand. I look at it as an easier interface to keep up once you have it all set up (which takes 1-2 hours if you're maticulous: 30-45 minutes if you're not) so that adds to it's core value. OH yeah, I used to be on eBlogger and when I switched, I literally never turned back. Integrate to WordPress if you haven't already!

Wordpress is probably the best. It has lots of addons and themes you can use.

I tried to play around a bit with wordpress and I am not sure if it can do what I am looking for easily.

I was trying to keep the style I am using. I wanted to have a stack homepage (with a welcome message on the right hand column) and a box or something below that has the most recent 3 or so blogs.

The other function is to have the blog on the blog page, with a archive on the right hand side.

Is there another option, or a easy way to get wordpress to do what I am looking for.

Yes, if you have WordPress installed you can add stuff like that to your sidebar using the widgets feature. It's very easy, anyone can do it.

If you think you can cope with technical stuff, then you can choose Wordpress. But if you feel it will be a burden for you, then I suggest that to use Blogger.

Hope that helps.

Wordpress is quite easy to use even for newbies, start with wordpress...if you use blogger and later decide to use wordpress, then you will need to migrate everything over. Beside, since you already got a domain name, you can install wordpress on on your domain name, and it will be more professional than using blogger.

You can install here : http://www.wowconomics.com/blog (since it not install yet, there is nothing there now !)

I've been using blogger for my blogs for about a year now (I'm just new in this industry) and I've been thinking in trying out wordpress. I asked people around and they told me that wordpress is better because it has a lot of plug-ins.

Yep, there are alot of plug-ins you can use and plenty of themes which you can select for your blog. WP will give you better control of your blog.

wordpress def. has the functionality and flexibility. we see members do well with blogger and wordpress blogs, but the wordpress blogs tend to look MUCH better and therefore you can stand out from the blogging crowd a little easier.

If you compare wordpress to blogger, then its more complicated.

You will have to have your own domain and you will have to install the WP on your domain and if you want to use the different plugins, you will need to add them manually etc

Where as for blogger, it is just like 'click and use' them whatever is there that you want to use. You will just find a available username and signup for it to have a account and then log in to use it.

But to use WP is actual quite simple and not complicated.
