I blog for money... but besides, I blog also because It's my hobby and interest.

Actually, is tarted blogging some 4 years ago and put adsense ads in it like 3 years ago...

I've not earned much to speak of but it sure is a path.

I program, debug, counsel and design for money.
But what I have to say is mostly not interesting for the mass, only for a particular situation.

I blog for fun, for traffic and I use ads, but I can't really say I do it for the money because i don't make enough! Money isn't my prime goal though.

I blog for fun but to get more traffic, i need soem money. Therefore, i blog for both fun and money.

Same thing here! When I put up my car review blog, I did it because I like it and not for the purpose of money. So when I finally get some good traffic, I put up some ads on it.

And then I stopped working on it and started to lose traffic. So I ain't really earning enough at all.

I blog for traffic and it is one of the online marketing strategies i use for my clients. Blogs have the potential to rank well and bring in many loyal readers all of which you can build a reputation from. When i first started out i particularly liked blogs for the comments, always eager to see what visitors i was targeting thought of my techniques, this is a perfect way to lean and grow.

I earned a lot of money in Google Adsense but since then my Adsense pin are hang up. I guess it was stuck up somewhere.

Yes and I make money from bloggerings and you can too! But it all depends on if you want to or not it helps if you have a bit of a writers spirit and like writing/blogging.

I started blogging for fun and then got into adsense and affiliates so some blogs became about money. I cannot say that I make enough money for the amount of time and effort I put in though, if this were a job with a salary I'd say I was still making below minimum wage lol!

to the OP, yes i started for money. i'm only a week into it but i started a blogspot as opposed to a myspace blog i used to use to post random/crazy/funny/variety stories. why let someone else earn from my traffic/network?

also times are tough and i need help supplementing income.

i also like the control i have over my spot. its an upgrade as a blog

I blog (not even sure if it's the correct word in my case) for basically three reasons.
1. It's my on-line notebook, where I can scribble useful (rarely used) things I might forget. Like listing the branches, not tags, of a file in CVS.
2. It's a place (more blog like) where I spit out ideas on the practice of programming. The idea is, to share ideas and learn from my visitors.
3. Personal PR. It's a tough world out there for programmers. My site, and I are fairly well known in Java development circles. This helps with job searches and even more with salary negotiations.

I do run some ads. The text ads make a little more than the cost of hosting. I use a VPN for root access so, for a small site, I'm paying a little more. My server is there for me to experiment with too.

I have some targeted amazon ads (yea they're back). I set these to pay in amazon credit. So, my Amazon ads basically feed my book addiction.

There are some leftover google ads in there (I need to clean house) but, they never performed well, and they really need to go.
