I know that many people say when you have your own domain you get more advantages but all this time i was working on submitting my blog and populating it the problem is that when ill buy my own .com domain
ill loose people and i will have to submit it all over again. the question is
does it really worth it?

In my view it is worth it, because you own it and you are undependant from other people or websites.
Plus: You also can make sub-sites under the domain with something.something.com or something.com/something

When your site is a sub-domain to the main site (part of a main site), and search engines pay more attention to main than to other parts of a web site. It is then easier to work your way to the top pages of a SERP (Search Engine Result Page). Plus you will be promoting your own site, not the site of a blogging platform provider.

yes of course, it's worth buying. you should get your own you can earn from it as well.. and for doing the submissions etc. all over again, don't get tired, it is how it is. you should have patience.

Ok let me tell you with an example ... suppose you are living in rented home and you build one more floor to it (Landlord wont object it) and you were enjoying your one more floor on rented home. But after few days Landlord gave you a notice and asked you to vacant the home. You do not have any choice and you left the home.

So in this case such blogspot.com or wordpress.com is just like that rented home and they can banned you any time. But if you will build such reputation and links on your own domain than you will enjoy it for the life terms.

I would develop your own domain. Over time you build authority under that domain hich is a plus in my books.

Your own domain is always preferable. You can get a good hosting account for under 10 bucks and can use unlimited domains and sub-domains. Your situation is a little diffrent though. You just have to weigh the pro and cons and make a decision. Maybe you can create a post letting your visitors know of the possible change and see what the response is. Maybe they will follow use or ask their opinion about it.

It is definitely worth it. Specially if you will work hard on it. It is your own property then if you purchase one. Full control and authority will be your prize if you buy your own domain. If your keywords rank well on your previous blog. It is indeed a different situation to take. Risky and let's say, suicide. Chances to get the same traffic won't surely be high for a new domain. A redirection will do, But the content of your site is what you should get more of your attention.

I think it is 100% worth the time, money and effort. Not only will you have your own branded blog, but you will have something tangable you can use if you ever decide to sell it to someone for a profit. IMHO, go for it!

It takes effort to promote a web site, but, if you can't take your web address with you when you switch to another ISP or host, you can lose much - if not all - of the momentum gained by your previous web marketing efforts.

Yes definitely it is but then it all comes down to what your website is and what its about and if it has the content that people want.

TBH if you are providing people with the content they need and keep coming back for more then it really doesnt matter what your domain name or subdomain name is but it can be better in a lot of ways like giving the name out.

if youve got a name that sticks in peoples heads its easier to remember than yoursite.xxxxx.xxx

also as for your old site you could just set up a re-direct or just put a link on it saying youve moved or you have a new website please visit.

Yeah I think you should get your own domain. Get a short domain that's easy to remember. A Domain now a days is only $10 a year.

it is good to have a domain to get more number of visitors. domains professionalize to your blog.

We did it 5 months back and it was a pain hunting down everyone who linked to us and asking them to change their links (even though we keep a permanent redirect in place) but it was worth it.

That said Technorati's inability to merge authority from both addresses drove me nuts - we basically lost our ranking and had to start again and in blog rankings that utlise Technorati in their formulae we were/are being compared to other sites that have the full 6 months worth of Technorati ranking.

... still, we just hit number 12 most popular blog in New Zealand today so we are doing ok.
