Causes that could make Google stop indexing blog posts

I have a Wordpress blog and my question is, what are some causes that could lead Google to stop indexing new blog posts? Or is this normal/cylical?

For some time, all my new blog posts would get indexed into Google's search engine within no more than 2-3 hours.

Now, none of my new blog posts have been indexed into Google's search engine -- It's been a good 2 days already. (Although, in Google Webmasters Tools, Googlebot has been downloading my SiteMap once every 3 hours, but indexes 0 new blog posts).

I have made no changes to robots.txt or .htaccess

I don't think I have done anything wrong nor have I done anything differently.

Any ideas or insight would be much appreciated. Also if anyone could share their stories (cause maybe it is normal for Googlebot to do this?)

Was it "new" at this point <3 or 4 months "old"

when it's been 2 months start wondering.

Simple fact is. Your blog probably just isn't "important" enough for Google to use indexing cycles on.

No my blog is not new. My domain has been registered for a good 3 years. Although, I recently switched the layout on my website from being a "traditional" web 1.0, static site to a Wordpress blog.

I made this switch about 3 weeks ago. About 2-3 days after I made this switch, Googlebot started indexing my blog posts. Within the days thereafter, my blog posts would be indexed within Google within 2-3 hours.

In the past 2 days, Googlebot has continued to hit my site map every 3 hours, but stopped taking in my new blog posts which i have no clue as to why

Why would Googlebot index my content every 2-3 hours for the past like 2 weeks and then suddenly stop (although the every 3-hour hit to my sitemap has been teh same)? It seems so odd

Is there an area within Google Webmaster Tools that can give me some clues as to why Googlebot stopped indexing my new blog posts?

However, when I log into Google W/m Tools, it states on the front page:
"Pages from your site are included in Google's index.
Pages in your Sitemap(s) are included in Google's index."

Did you redirect your old URIs to the new ones?

The sitemap URI will not have changed.

Simple fact is that you have just lost most of the backlinks to your pages and with redirects it will take 3 to 6 months to fully recover, 12 months to never without.

Oh that could be it

Prior to my wordpress blog, my site had 100+ links in Google. Now when you go to these old links, it redirects you to my wordpress blog automatically. When you click an old backlink via Google, in the title, it will say "Nothing found for..." and then you will see my wordpress blog.

But I've noticed that, since the inception of my Wordpress blog 3 weeks ago, most of those old links from my old site have been deleted from Google's index.

Another thing is "Duplicate title tags." I've sinced blocked the indexing of "/tag/" but many of them are still in Google's index. Google Webmaster Tools states that 100 of the 120 links in Google have duplicate title tags.

Example:
/tag/basketball-video/
/basketball-video/

But I am still curiously wondering why over a period of 8 some days, Google indexes my blog posts within 2-3 hours.....and now, it has yet to index any of my new blog posts and its been a good 2 days. I am not too sure what the cause may be

Don't worry about it, it often gets thing wrong.

Sounds like a problem with redirects (or lack of them) plus an incorrectly set up 404 page.

If it's on the "home" page then the links will not have been "broken" and it will continue to be crawled and indexed, the rest will either have to wait until the SE crawlers get around to them or you will have to take action to recover the situation by implementing 301 redirects.

On my blog, I usually post a DVD/movie YouTube trailer and then write a few sentence review on that DVD/movie.

Being that I sometimes can write up to 10-15 posts a day and that all my blog posts look similar (almost look automated - 1 YouTube video and followed by a few sentences), could that be another reason? Maybe the Googlebots flagged my site as being a spam blog with auto-generated content posts?

If that were the case every news site on the internet would be in trouble.

If you are writing real content, none of that applies. The google crawler and indexer has absolutely no idea what your site/pages/posts look like, it reads source code and words and provided those words are not boiler plate text found on 200,000 other pages it won't be a problem.

My web site is just crumbling down by Google

> Went from having everything indexed daily to having nothing new indexed in the past 5 days

> Went from having my site crawled by Googlebot once every 2-3 hours to only once a day

> Went from being ranked on first page for many keywords to being ranked not even in the top 5 pages for the same keywords

> Went from having 600 unique visitors during those couple weeks to having less than 10 a day

Any ideas? Maybe I need to resubmit my site for reconsideration by Google.

Have you implemented any redirects yet?

I've had 404 error pages

Today, I set up 301 redirects in .htaccess for all my 'Not Found' pages

I also manually specify the 100+ links thru Google Webmaster Tools of what to remove (Removal URL Tool)

I've already started seeing Google remove URLs from their index that are no longer there. 30 links removed in 1 day

So you think that the 100+ old links is what is, i guess, confusing googlebot and making googlebot not index any of my new pages (because it thinks my website no longer exists?)

The 100+ "old links" is what you should have left there in the index so google can carry on looking for them but finding a redirect. The redirect would have "removed" them BUT in the process of removing them it would have found the NEW pages.
So because you have requested them to be removed you have absolutely no choice now but wait out the several months it will probably take to recover.
