I just recently stumbled upon pingoat and got my site pinged. Then a couple of hours later, I tried to ping it again and it says:

Oopsie!

You cant ping the 'same blog' so often. Give pingoat some rest!


So, simple question here, do you ping once a day, a few times per week? What's a "normal" rate of pinging oneself, so to speak?

Wordpress pings automatically when I update blog. I don't ping manually.

When I create a new post it pings automatically, there is no need to ping manually.

When I have a new post, I ping it. That is every other day.

I try to ping each time I add a new post. For me, that's once a day at the very most.

After I post, which can either be once a day or once every two days.

I thought it auto pinged, so no need to ever...ping!

I think wordpress blogs have automatic pinging when you make a new post. I usually only use a ping service when i launch a new blog and have made a few posts.

I would suggest you to ping when ever you add new content on your blog

I always ping my blogger blog after I have posted in them so that means that the crawlers can only crawl my site after fresh contents are present.

For hosted blogs like wordpress, there is a built-in pinger where it will automatically ping the spiders after you posted a new article.

I never ping my blogs - and I see no reason to start.

My blogs have an automatic sitemap generator installed. When I update a post, or make a new post, the site pings the major search engines to notify them that new content has been posted.

I see no reason to ping by blog from another site.

Hi fellow webmaster-talk members - I found my way to this forum because I was doing a Google search for this very topic - what I'm trying to find out is - is there a penalty from the major search engines from pinging the same links every day and would there be any point to do this – Also anyone know - is there any benefits from using a couple of different pinging sites to do this task?
