All the suggestions are good but for me i prefer blog directories,do-follow commenting, exchange links & most important original content.

I prefer doing it through sites like stumbleupon.com, clipmarks they really help in getting good valuable visitors. Social networking is also an important tool. If you have just started, then you can even include the basic website things also.

Yeah, forum posting and stumbleupon works well also. StumbleUpon gave me a huge spike in traffic, that lasted for about a day, then died down to its normal stream. It was good for a momentary boost in revenue though.

do spam to people email is the best option?
