I am new to all this, I run dating sites, and I was wondering if I had a blog, would this help my sites to gain more traffic. I started online sites about 3 weeks ago, plenty of lookers but no one has signed up yet, done a lot of link exchanges and free search engines.

But eveyone keeps talk about blogs, do not know where to start

Help is much appreciated.

If you are going to work with it seriously, you need to start a blog with wordpress.
Start a facebook acount for your dating site
Start a twitter account too

Create (order) design (it could be unique and a bit similar to your dating site design. Code it
Do not copy other posts from other blogs
Write or buy unique content which would be interesting to you possible visitors

And read a lot about marketing, or you can hire someone to help you, as assistant or similar

Yes, making a blog will generate traffic, but it boils down to its content. Good content drives traffic. Blogging should also be coordinated with social networking.

a blog could generate a lot of traffic if you work for it serriously

if you seriously want to generate traffic to your blog, why just focus on your site to generate traffic?

there are lots of good blog sites to use...blogspot is easy to use and navigate..

Blogger and wordpress are the best blogging sites.

If the blog has huge traffic yes but if your planning to create a blog it wont help that much. You also need to do other link building techniques for you to gain traffic.

Well, blogs are very helpful in terms of diverting traffic and starting a blog to prmote and get traffic to your site is good idea and you will sure get more traffic through blogs if you maintain them properly.

Simply having a blog won't help very much to solve the core problem, no-one has signed up because they haven't been compelled to.

i agree...im newbie too, blogger is very simple to use. my first time using blogger is last July, but im continue my curiosity since the end september. i was trying WP..but for me seem not simple. now im using blogger and typepad. i like typepad so much *peace hehe*

Wordpress has lot's of plugins available to make your site SEo friendly and also wordpress blog has professional look.

Now there are a lot of blog sites. Each has their own style of blog writing. It also depends upon the skill of the writer.I think blogger .com is a good site for blog. It is really simple to use. It is a great site.

you're missing the picture... if you're adding a blog to your dating site do you even know what you're going to do with it?

you need to post articles related to your website that attracts the same target audience... such as dating postings, dating tips, dating research etc...

if you can't write these articles then you have to find somebody who can... its a lot more work than you think
