For getting attention of Search engines how many times a blog should be updated within a month? I mean regular updated but in which ratio?

It's also perfectly Ok for it not to be updated from one year end to the next.

Search engines don't care if you post 100 times a day. Your visitors, on the other hand, will want well written, usable fresh content that they can/may return for. They may less likely return to a blog that posts once every 6 months.

If you want the attention of search engines, get the attention of visitors. If you want to get the attention of visitors, start spreading the word. (...think viral, social, advertising, etc.)

For search engines is not so important, but in order to generate significant traffic you have to post at least 14 times per week.

It's still good to feed the search engines content.

And the 2nd part you are wrong, you don't need to do 2 a day. You can do 1 per every few days, and if your visitors are used to it they will return. You typically want to give your visitors used to a time frame from blog post to blog post. If you are posting once a day, and your visitors are used to it, then you don't post at all for a month...your readers are going to freak out and not come back possibly.

When I had my old webmaster blog, I started at once per day and gradually went to 1 post per 3 days and still maintained an easy 5,000 unique visitors a month.

I've read an article which looks very interesting as it say's the best way to promote or increase your site ranks is to start it inside meaning, optimize your site regularly and the rest will follow- well just want to share it

I think the more the better as when you update you can get more visitors and you can increase your traffic and get a better PR.

As per my opinions, if you wanted to help out your visitors who really like you blog then update it regularly, but if suppose you don't get any visitors and then you will not update it since you don't have any visitor coming to it, but thats not correct, even though you have to promote it with very interesting content which both crawlers and visitors like it.

post 3 articles on your blog per week, then schedule each article 1 or 2 days interval. It' really important that you update your blog so that your PR will increase.
