That's about it really. What were you expecting?
Maybe you can visit a few well chosen websites and make your opinion of the subject(s) known, there is
NO NEED TO DROP LINKS.
You are promoting
YOURSELF as a commentator on events or as a source of good information.
How and where you publish your thoughts and opinions is immaterial, the fact that you
DO is what counts.
Forum posting:
It is
NOT about getting as many sig links as possible! It is about how
YOU present your knowledge and information.
Blog " comments":
Are not about saying "Nice post" or "Thanks for impotant infomation" (along with a link).
It is about adding something useful to the "conversation", and disagreeing with the commentator is often MORE useful than "nodding in agreement".
Being controversial is probably the best publicity you could ever get.
"Article posting": Is not about posting "X per day", if you only post one every month but it makes a statement and reflects your point of view
THAT will be more "valuable". Keep your "5 a day" for the fruit and vegetable consumption in a healthy diet.
Be witty or mildly amusing in some things, but know when to be "pithy" or insicive on a subject.
You don't need a "theme", write about what interests
YOU, you will be much more readable.
There is a stage/theatre tradition of "Leave them wanting more". It is the same in this situation as well, leave the "audience"
wanting to read what you say next AND this is where:
"Social Media" posting comes in:
You leave incontext snippets from your article or blog post, and if it sounds controversial so much the better!
From the publishing world:
"Good news doesn't sell Newspapers" and a William Randolph Hearst quote is
" Don't be afraid to make a mistake. Your readers may like it"!
Contrary to popular belief and legend, not everything is about links.
