lol i agree they are no more important than any other site, I saw a statistic somewhere that said 80% of blog comments are indeed spam !

Generally the blog owner, won't let your comment be shown if its spam. You have to right on topic replies to the article your replying. Blog comments and chat rooms, aren't great for SEO anyway, as your link will soon disappear in the history of the website/blog where it won't make much link juice.

Blog Commenting is one of the best way to generate organic backlinks to your site, provided you comment something related to the topic and add value to the blog post. Your comment can be a conversation starter which encourage other blog readers to have a healthy discussion. Maintain relevancy that's it.

You obviously don't really know what "organic backlinks" means!

Thought for today:- I SEO the only industry where all the cowboys are Indians?
Of course once the google secret torture prison camps are built I would imagine there will be quite a downturn in spammers, I heard they were going to cut the fingers off of all spammers they capture or kidnap, makes Mr Bush's waterboarding look like childs play, still, it's all for the best I suppose
Blog commenting can still be regarded as one way of raising the ranks and links counts of the websites but they definitely are not regarded as the top choices or primary options. It is recommended to comment responsibly and in a positive style, offering information to the readers and then leaving the links instead of posting some few words and then adding links to tons of sites in a day.

If your comment is related to the topic that was posted, then its not spam.
Nope!
Comment spam is whatever the "blog" owner decides is unwanted!

Hi all,
I am freelance SEO and I have very small question in my mind.
Does blog commenting is considered as spam with respect to Google ranking?
What if I have all back-links to my website through only blog comments?
If I post 100 or 200 blog comments to my related website then does this will be considered as Spam?
Whatever the blog type Do follow or No-Follow
Thanks

All your comments will be considered as spam if they are all rubbish. Comment only if you have something worth to comment. Don't comment just for the sake of commenting.
Commenting in blogs may be beneficial for link building only if they don't have no-follow attributes. Since most blogs now have no-follow attributes, the value of blog commenting can now be viewed more as a free advertising for your website. Thus, making sensible comments is a must if you want to have a chance of readers noticing your link and clicking on it.
If you are going to pursue 'blog commenting' as a 'marketing tool', then there is only one way to do it. Read the post carefully and then make a meaningful comment that actually adds informational value (i.e. user generated content) to the page. Use your real name and not a keyword. Otherwise, you lose credibility. 'Blog commenting' is about getting noticed by other readers. If the admin has removed the 'no follow' attribute then you get a 'do follow' link as a bonus.
Do give valuable comments instead of "nice post" (Even if you don get backlink) you can be happy that your commented idea will be accepted if it is worth.
The only problem with having Google as i noticed is that they ignore links in comments is that I'm sure that some commentor somewhere will post a useful and quality link, which will then go unindexed, all because of spammers and that's unfair!
