Blog commenting can help a bit, but I don't believe it should be the main link building strategy. Instead of going through the trouble of finding 100 blog comment backlinks, I'd try to find more valuable back links.

I guess blog commenting doesn't mean it's a spam as long it 'make sense'. You can easily determine what is a spam post or not. If say your blog is about coconut and then my comment is about '*****s', then I guess it's very obvious it is just a spam comment right?

Why do you think the rel="nofollow" was developed by ALL the search engines.

If your comment is not spam, then your link is not spam!!!

Blog commenting is not spamming. if you post informative and relevant comment then it is good for reader and blog too.

It also looks less 'spammy' if you actually add your name to the name field rather than a keyword.

Of course you don't get the anchor text credit this way but at least your comment will more likely be approved.

No it will not count as a spam. You can do it but personally I would like to say that work in all channels not work in only one channel.

Blog comment is spam, plain and simple, while I don't believe G will penalize you for doing it, because if they did, you could harm your competition. They more than likely ignore them, especially as 95% are no-follow anyway.

Just like forum signature, many are available, many are banned, why? Two things, the link you post there and the signature(comment) itself, the content. If your link related with pornograhphy, gambling, imitation, etc. probably it will be considered as spam and got banned. For the content part, try your best post something related to the posts.

By the way, you'd better google "no follow meta and do follow meta" and learn about them.
