Yea... I would avoid this suggestion like the plague. After you spam hundreds of sites with blog comments begging them to review your software and a few of those webmasters start flagging your comments as spam in their WP interface, Akismet will get trained that your comments are spam. It will then start sending ALL of your blog comments straight to the spam folders of ALL sites using Akismet on the web (which are most serious blogs out there).
To the OP:
If you want webmasters to review your software, don't spam them with form emails. It's simply not going to work. If it does, you're going to have a VERY low conversion rate. You need to first develop a relationship with them. You can do this lots of ways, but email is probably the WORST medium you could choose.
First identify the best sites for reviewing your product. Then spend a few weeks or months participating in discussions on the sites... SERIOUSLY participating and providing useful interaction. Forget thinking that posting a "Nice post" kind of comment is in some way "participation" in the discussion. Perhaps you can link them in via connections on LinkedIn or meet them at an industry conference that you find out they plan to attend. You have to get creative. That's why they call it "marketing". If spamming people with email worked, we could all be millionaires.
Only AFTER you've established some type of relationship with them online or in person should you even consider reaching out to request a review. But phone or in person is always better than email. It's harder for people to say know when you are speaking with them. It's simple to hit the DELETE button for an email.
