I have done blog commenting in 100 blog sites but I got no benefit after i made only 20 blogs then i got lots of traffic and my website got a high rank in search engines. Is commenting just a waste of time?

Commenting on blog is not a waste of time. I assume that what you are commenting is relevant to the topic. How long have you been doing this by the way?

Blog writing makes money and traffic for you.
but blog commenting only make traffic for your blog.

Blog commenting is if done thoughtfully then its very effective to drive a good traffic on a site and blog writing needs every time unique and fresh content to get crawled by Google.

I have done a lot of blog commenting to build backlinks for my site...i made sure that I create an alert to my gmail for my niche, and then i drop a comment to these websites that have been indexed by google lately...it really improved my search engine results as they have counted as backlinks for me.

Blog Writing (or guest blogging) always works. blog commenting rarely works

People are dumb. They think that getting a higher PR from backlinks will get them more visitors to their adsense and ad spammed site.

Why should it benefit you? Blog comments are for participating in a conversation of the original post, not for spamming your wares.

Grow up and stop polluting the web!

Considering 99.99% of the blogs on the web are NOFOLLOW, commenting on them is not going to help your rankings. If you are commenting on blogs, you need to be REALLY participating in the conversation and sharing useful info. If anything, it is a technique you should be using to drive traffic if anything. Don't look to it as an SEO technique.

Whether you're writing content or commenting on it, you should consider your "reputation" as ChrisHirst suggested. Without it, you're just another spammer out there "polluting the web" as blue-dreamer said.

Blogging and blog commenting are both beneficial; it just a matter of proper execution.

Writing will bring more people in through search engines, but commenting can be useful if it's do-follow comments. Either way, writing is better.

Writing is better than blog commenting. But then again, blog commenting will also help you to gain traffic.

I think writing a blog post is better than blog commenting.If you write a blog post with Good keyword density it will get indexed in Google.

Well mate I think commenting is not a waste of time and money. But it will generate backlink to your site. Which will benefit in one or the other way.

Getting people to visit your website isn't that hard. Getting people to stay en re-visit is the hard and most important part.
