There are certain sites that compiles WP plugins. Just Google it.

Advanced Text Widget is one of my favorite plugins.

This plugin puts a widget in your widget area to be used in sidebars. You can use regular text, HTML, and PHP code in the widget.

The thing I like most is that there are options in the widget which allow you to SHOW, or NOT SHOW, the widget on pages of your choice.

I use this to target certain ads to pages with relative content and also have some widgets that contain info and instructions that I only want to show on selected pages.

Akismet is invaluable. Eliminates 99.99% of my spam.

I suggest seo plugins and Akismet to prevent spammers.
Wordpress has a lot fo plugins so choosing the best of them is impossible. It depends on your needs. Search for your need and install useful plugins for your wordpress.

Not a plugin but the Export feature is great when you want to transfer your data to another platform
