I've had this installed on my blog for a week or so. I see a lot of hits from other blogs now, but no page visits, which makes me think that it is indeed sending feed-like content to other blogs but that no one is clicking on it to get to my blog. If all it does is cross-advertise with no one following links, then I may just remove it. I was wondering if anyone has had any success with this plugin or any similar plugin.

Basically what it does is find blogs "similar" to yours and advertise them at the bottom of each of your post, then sends yours to other "similar" blogs in the same manner. The "similarity" aspect is questionable but slightly noticeable.

A: What are you calling hits and views.

B: You can't PUSH feeds to a blog

A: I am referring to two columns in awstats, one of which says "hits" and the other of which says "pages". After signing up for BTE, I saw a lot of new links from external pages start appearing from different blogs. However, all of these links are empty in the page column while giving me 1 (or more) "hits" in the hit column. I assume this means that someone visited the referral site and a link to my site loaded (the hit), but no one followed the link to get to my site or I would have some page views. I may be incorrect in this assumption.

B: I'm not expecting this, I only expect it to put an advertisement excerpt on random blogs of similar content that also signed up for this service. I'm just trying to figure out the utility of this exchange system. I like it because it claims to link to related content, which seems like it is beneficial to web surfers in contrast to blind link exchanges with any site you can find, but the content is only loosely related at best. If I am not getting any traffic from this, then I may just pull it out. I was just wondering if anyone had any good experience with it before I do, or if anyone has good/bad experience with a similar system.

Ok a "hit" occurs when any resource is requested from the server. So to analyse properly you need to know what was requested to log the "hit"

In a section in awstats (stat tracking program) called "Links from an external page (other web sites except search engines)"

So, referal traffic then, which may or may not be actual links (most likely not).

Referrers are often "spoofed" by spammers to get return traffic to their sites/pages.

No no no... I do not like traffic exchanges. You're just bluffing your self.

I'll use a blogtraffic exchange to find other interesting blogs to read not necessarily for traffic.
