I am planning to have a new blog in wordpress and I am thinking if what I am going to to disable the "allow comments, allow trackbacks and pingbacks"? by default, so that they have to be explicitly enable, any ideas on how to do it?

You can disable if you want but as far as I know you can moderate your comments like in blogger.

Login to the "dashboard"

Settings -> Discussion -> Uncheck "Allow people to post comments on new articles " -> Save Changes

And comments will be turned off.

We can also ask help in Google. For sure Google know all of the ways how to.

Overall, the dashboard needs to be studied for every blogger if they want to be a complete webmaster of their own site.
