Here's my dilemma... I have Akismet installed and working properly, I've updated to the newest version of the software, but I'm still getting a lot of spammy comments. Can anyone recommend additional plugins that have been useful for preventing spam? Thanks in advance.

I've never had an problems with it. Have you added words that are common to the ones that slip through? I had to do that.

I'd suggest not blacklisting anything. Even though every comment I've gotten that said 'porn' in it has been spam so far, I might get one one day where that word is approrpiate.

You could always just review anything that includes a link. Unless you're a super high traffic website, this shouldn't be a major time kill.

You can use either Bad Behavior or Spam Karma 2, or both. There is another plugin to coordinate Spam Karma with Akisment. Both are very effective. Check out the comments before you use them. Bad Behavior can lock out legitimate users under certain circumstances. Spam Karma can be fine-tuned, but I recommend starting with the default settings.

i used SK2...and very satisfied with this plugin..SK2 will send you an email on detail information of spammer that had been caught.
