Blogging has certainly become as popular as chat used to be, Though they operate on different levels.
Chat = a lot of people discussing something equally.
Blogging = I'm saying this, What do you think?
The only blogs i read are "lecture type" blogs. What i mean by that is when someone who i trust to have knowledge in an industry wants to tell me something, I'm more than happy to listen (read).
Personal blogs don't interests me at all. Even when Matt Cutts writes about his roller hockey i never read it. He's a clever guy, But why does he think i care in the slightest about his life outside of Google?
I tend to also ignore his "look how great we are" posts where he bangs on about how great Google is and what a great job him and his friends are doing.
When i have finished reading a blog post i want to think "I have learned something", Not "oh, Matt cutts played roller hockey on Thursday".
