I don't want to hurt you, but I think a good logo needs more than just text. The logo is the first thing people notice on a website/blog (especially if it's as nice and clear as yours, not stuffed with links and ads), and the logo might be the only thing the remember when they go away. And you want them to come back, I suppose. That's why you need the title, to make them remember what it was, and a nice graphic to make them remember easier. I'm not a psychologist, I just read it somewhere, I didn't make it up.
I'm not a logo designer either, but I have blogged about creating JavaScript animated logos on my blog. Anyway, they are not so nice, but don't blame me, I'm new in blogging, too 
Here's a logo I've created for a website a few months ago. I made it entirely in the GIMP (i like the GIMP). Take a look at it, it has a simple graphics beside the text, yet makes it more attractive.
