i think, they can see which url a person came from - then they can see who was in that thread - prob arises when there r like 15 of us in a thread!

To me there's going to be a lot of user's posting for no reason to get there count up, in threads to make money, which will fill forums like this with #$^&*()# all over the place, like you say 15 of us all with the same link who gets what. will they pay on that ? will the forum put up with it ??

These are some good questions. We can track a sale down to the thread. I dont know where you came up with the number 15 as we would never have that many at the same forum. The max well take per forum is 5 and if these 5 people all have a conversation with each other at same time and that creates a sale itll be split 5 ways. Two people two ways one person one way .
Many forums are great places to get support for this and that. and I feel our program enhances that by motivating help to be there more often. Im sure it wont interrupt the conversation your used to getting. Besides forums have limits usually on how often you can post. And anyone blatantly abusing our system will not be a part of it any longer. We dont want garbage posts either believe me . anyways its a good program from a good company.
thanks

Every sale thats created is examined anyhow. Always wanting to know where they come from. We click thru right to original thread. banner or search listing.
counting posts is trickier.. our affiliates report post count monthly along with post count verification url . So a quick click and check is all it takes really. Once a month.

There's still a question that has not been answered. Does ISPHost pay for all the previous threads? For example, I have over 3000 posts here. If I joined, that would automatically give you 3000+ ads already. Seems to me that would be more valuable than someone joining with 50 posts (just an example). For back pay, I would be interested.
It wouldn't be so hard to find out how much someone posts in a month, but without any tracking urls it would take someone manually going to the individual profile urls to see how much their post count has increased. Seems like a lot of work even if there are only 5 members/affiliates allowed per forum.
The sign-up page says there is a $10 commission for referring a buyer. Since there is no tracking, nor a slot for the referrers name, I think that could get out of hand. Seems like if you went to the thread that referred them, it's too subjective on who's done the "selling" and who's just joined in the thread.
Note to MatrixGuru: I thought you were the one that was bored because of the dots and dashes, unless there's a secret code in there somewhere. LoL!

My gut reaction to the offer was that if I'm going to say "I recommend such and such a product" in my posts, I want to know if that product is good. I don't want to put my name on something if it's not, nor do I want to steer people the wrong way - that'd be an awful thing to do to someone who has chosen to trust my judgement.
Now I'm not saying that this particular product isn't good - I haven't tried it. And that's sort of the point.
One solution to this predicament would be to buy a month's worth of hosting and see what it's like. But that just hands over more money to a company that I don't know anything about to begin with. (Again, I know they say they're good, but so does everyone else, and it's a big world out there...)
What I'd like to see is an incentive program for people who would like to try but want to be sure of the product they're recommending. Maybe two weeks of trial hosting, with full access to support and anything else you'd have if you were a paying customer. If it's good, you'll get your ad on the person's line, and maybe make a sale right there.
My two cents (or actually, my lack thereof!)

Just my 2 cents, but the way you have this set up is not going to work IMO.
My concerns:
1. Tracking is going to be a nightmare.
2. What is you minimum payment threshold?
3. 2 cents per post is way to low IMO. Someone posting 50 times a day or more is quite a bit and take quite a bit of time. It would take 1000 posts just to make $20.
4. Dave's question above is an important one. In addition how are you going to stop someone from getting paid and then switching their signature link back right after that? Or how long do that have to keep the link and there sig after getting paid? Keeping that in all your sigs forever would be crazy.
5. I would not have someone put "I recommend http://isphost.org web hosting" in their sig for reasons posted above. Instead I would just put something try isphost.org...
The system is in bad need of revision.

Hello Wow this post got cookin.. Glad to spark debate.
questions answered .
no we dont pay for previous posts. Only fresh posts
We give free web hosting to our affiliates.... So they know about speed service and reliability.. and are confident in recommending us. And as you well stated by changing your signature can erase all prior recommendations.. We can be erased after paying you .. so we have some risk here too.
2 cents per post is fair I believe. Weve paid and owe many affiliates very good commissions. Enough to pay cable bills to car payments.. So since there isnt much labor involved you might as well have us pay your isp bill every month .. and relieve you of your hosting cost..
and give you hundreds of free scripts software and templates.
As well as pay you for every sale..
All for typing one sentence in your sig bar and hitting save..
Its not too terrible when you get the whole picture.. we appreciate our affiliates.. and treat them well . And will continue to spoil them for years to come.
As for people who posted negative comments thanks for your input. Except I didnt need to know that you werent joining the program. Nor did anyone else I dont believe.. But well note it for the records.. thanks all ..

Believe me, I have no agenda against you, but for the sake of our members (and as you've posted the offer in a public forum) the questions that have been posted are legitimate concerns and important ones.

WHY!? That makes no sense (except for the pure benefit of yourself). Please answer the following question: Why is a post made today any less value than one that was posted before they joined your program? So basically Criper puts your sig in 800+ past posts for FREE?

Dave, I have talked to this guy via email before and unfortunately they do not pay out for previous posts, so to answer your question, no you will not get paid for your 3000 posts!

This where I have a problem ? your not allowed to have affiliate links in your posts Right ? what differance does this have ? it is just a new way to have a affiliate program in forums, if this is alright i will start one myself ! maybe 4cents a post with all those links going to my website my google ranking will go through the roof ! As for this being maybe a negative comment well you don't have to worry about me joining I won't be I am not going to post 1000 times for $ 20 bucks I am already on a six figure income now to worry about $ 20 bucks ? .......

Matrix, everytime I see your posts, I want to run out and buy ice cream. I don't know why. **ice cream, ice cream, ice cream....** Come on and make it a dollar/post, paying retroactively, and I'll sign up!
It is correct that affiliate links and referral links are not allowed in posts. However, as long as sigs do not become billboards, links to sites are allowed in the sigs.
And this thread is allowed because they are purchasing ad space. IMO, there are some obstacles for this program to overcome, but a couple of our members can tell us how it goes after their first month.

Hmm, the idea is nice. And i tell my affiliates to do the same, however. With your system all the tracking is done MANUALLY.. That is insane!!
