Hi there, hope this is the right place to post this...

I'm about to start work on a site and need some advise on if to go with Joomla or Drupal.

The site is going to need to have members register, then be able to create their own page and portfoilio on the site that they can edit when ever they want.

A bit like facebook/myspace but NOWHERE NEAR AS ADVANCED!

Im better versed in PHP than other coding languages so am open to advise!

Well, I prefer Drupal. It is easier to use and play with.
The only problem with Drupal that you have to watch for is excessive server resources. My friend installed Drupal on this site and his account was suspended a couple of months later for using excessive server resources.
I don't know what the problem with Drupal is.

im using joomla on cycleposers.com and novoportugal.com.. But recently found drupal and im trying to convert novoportugal.com to it.

Drupal is MUCH HARDER TO USE.

Joomla is cool, and has a nice backend section that is easy to use, and easy to add content. I would have to say right now, that joomla is better. But drupal from what I hear is that its much more powerful, it just requires alot more work.

There are a ton of modules for joomla, alot of support as well. Problem with alot of components is that after you install there is little or no support. But it beats drupal ina big way when it comes to user friendly ness.

There are much better pre made themes for joomla as well.
