Hello all master coders,
I have been doing my site exclusivley in html. What is the big differences bewteen php and html? What are the advantages/disadvantages? What, if any would be the penalty from going from an html site to a php site? Would this hurt the PR I have already gotten as well as the search results? Woud it appear to be a whole new site?
Please discuss.
Thanks in advance.

php is a server side programming language
HTML is a client side (browser) markup language.

Utterly different animals entirely. PHP can be used to produce HTML code

You wouldn't have any PR (not that it's of use in the first place) all your results would be gone for 8 to 12 weeks (assuming you could redirect that is)

with php you can make your pages very dynamic, or changable for individual users. It also is used in a combination with almost all database mangage systems. You need a srever that enables php first though, most likely running apahce. go to tizag.com and read their php tutorial. Html is great for static sites, but if your going into internet buiz, def learn php.
