Out of interest, who here uses SVG? I know its not widely supported, but I've found it a lot nicer than flash in many respects. I'm sure as soon as it begins being bundled with browsers everyone will be over using it, like they have with flash, but for anyone who's used it, what do you think of it in comparison to things like flash? It would allow on-the-fly generation of charts, without the processor usage if you create whole images instead, and its Javascript interaction would allow for some amazing website in months to come...

webwoRRks,

I haven't started using SVG yet, but I have my eye on it as I believe earnestly that it is the future...

I thought SVG was just an image format, I didn't know it was used for animation etc.

SVG = Scalable Vector Graphics, or so I thought. Heralded as the future of digital imaging and the heir apparent to Flash, it allows graphics to be created more easily programmatically and, of course, scale well (as vectors tend to do).

That's about all I know right now, but I plan on spending some time with it when it becomes a bit more mature.

I think if Mozilla/NS starts towing the line on filters, CSS will attain SVG's functionality, and Adobes little brainchild will lose out If you want to see an SVG example (its a really simple one), look at the following example; Requires SVG plugin
