alright, not 100% sure if this is the right place to post this.

here's the deal. i am putting together a website for political debate. the main idea will be that at the top of each page, there will be a current issue debated heavily, such as gay marriage, taxes, war on iraq, etc.

then, below it, the page will be split into two. i'd like to have a blog where people can put in their comments or view on the topic, and then if they select "on the left / liberal" their message will be posted on the left of two columns, and obviously if they select "on the right / conservative" their comment will go to the right.

this way, the comments are grouped on either side according to the overall viewpoint of the person.

i'm very familiar with HTML and photoshop, and i know how to lay the website out, but i don't have any idea what blog program can do this, how to program it, etc

any help would be great on what my best bet is, how to set up the "left/right" thing, and simply what blog program to use.

Blogs are usually for individuals who want to post frequent updates. What you're describing sounds more like a message board. You could probably get someone to help you put a discussion topic into an iframe or include on both sides.

that's not a bad idea. i really want to avoid having a "real" message board such as vbulletin, etc, as i'd rather not have this set up as a "forum." if i did set up iframes like you say, what kind of coding would you recommend to "submit" new posts to the site?
