prevent text size increase/decrease

can someone please tell me how to prevent text size increase/decrease in browsers to maintain layout better?
please help this is driving me crazy.
i see other sites where increasing or decreasing text size does nothing.

You can do this using cascading stylesheets (CSS). With this you can specify the font size in standard point sizes, so they can't be changed in the browser:

Think carefully about your audience before you do this.

If you have the stodgy good old boys of the internet they might get upset that you took away control of how their browser displays text etc.

If you have older visitors that might have vision difficulty then making a font fixed at too small a size could cause them difficulty in reading.

I know you want your site to 'look' a certain way and stay that way but you also have to really think about the person viewing.

After all, who are you building the site for? Them or you?

great answer. thank you!
that's exactly what i think but i have alot of trouble with tables in dreamweaver mx staying put and spacing between words when you increase text after i have it all perfect.
but that's my problem i just have to learn more.
