Can anyone help or advise me on shopping carts? We don't need a full blown shopping cart, what we need is when the client orders they go into an encrypted page to give their address and credit card information securely. By accessing the information, we can then use our offline credit card servives.

Hopefully someone can help or advise.....

Just get a standard script, and make sure its on an SSL server, then store it in a database.

Thank you for your response, WebwoRRks!

The scripts I downloaded were very complicating, plus a lot of extra things I don't need. I was hoping I could find a real simple shopping cart script, tailor the script to our needs. After looking the scripts over, I could see I was way over my head.

I know a bit about the ssl and the database, but not much either......

The first thing to do is to make sure you have SSL enabled for your server. If not, buy it.

As for the script, you might be looking for the wrong thing. A shopping cart is usually made for selling lots of products, making tons of transactions automatically online and all of that fun stuff. In order to have people post orders and store their address/credit card info, you're going to want a simple order script...

But if you do need a shopping cart, use OSCommerce. It's free, customizable, and very reliable.

Thank you for your response DevelopedWeb!

Unfortunately I am in way over my head again!

I took your advice and downloaded the url you submitted, haven't unzipped the file to take a look yet, wanted to send this message out to you first. Earlier I was I was looking at the SSL sites and the pricing, was glad I was sitting down. Also was poking through my FTP, reading about the SSL, some of the information I understood. At this point in time maybe would be a good idea to write a message to our hoster, ask the what, where and how much. I did see where these certificates are good for a year. Also understand why you mentioned maybe I don't need a shopping cart, as long as the pages are encrypted, I could by pass the cart altogether.

We aren't a big business, basically very simple, maybe 5-15 art pieces for purchase....

Thank you very much for your help and advice, very much appreciated.....

Thank you for your response, Andrews_john!

I agree with you, if one can develope their own software, much more secure and safer. Unfortunately I am not a developer nor a coder......
