I am looking for a little advice here...
I am planning to start a new website that will deal with real estate listings in my local market. I have made a few personal sites and one business site before so I know HTML pretty well and some Java. I am in college right now, learning C++ but I don't know very much yet, and I have also taken MATLAB. My brother is doing the graphics for me on Dreamweaver. I have MS Access on my computer but I don't know how to use it.
What I need advice on is setting it up so that the users can create a user name/password. then they can log in and use their credit card or electronic check to pay a fee for each listing they put up. I want the listings to be instant, so that as soon as their payment goes through, they are directed to a page where they can write the description and upload photos. Then they hit submit and it appears in the database instantly. I would also like it for them to be able to log in later and add additional photos or change part of the description, or delete their ad if it no longer for sale.
This site would work much like www.autotrader.com (except I'm not selling cars).
I found a service that accepts credit card/electronic check payments and doesn't require a merchant's account. http://www.2checkout.com/home.html
I need to know what kind of database to use and how to create it, and how to set up the username/password section. I may have to pay somebody to do this, but if I can learn it myself I will because I want to keep start-up costs as low as possible.
THANKS
