I am desperately working on live video feeds. Using windows media encoder works excellent and is very easy to set up but, behind a router it's sort of a pain.

I have been playing with my router all day trying to get my video feed live.

First off, can anyone see my video feed?

And if not, does anyone have any suggestions when it comes to port forwarding and tcp settings?

Thanks as usual!

On your particular problem, you could make the computer generating the feed part of the DMZ.
The DMZ, or DeMilitarized Zone, is a virtual "out of the firewall scope" place, where any machines placed into will see the full traffic, before the firewalling process take place.

In that case, it's your responsability to secure the network access to the computer, but it can helps. A lot.

And as for your second question, yes, I can see your desk, but you obviously are away :-)

It all depends on what kind of router you are using.

Usually port forwarding is done through NAT (network address translation).
Here you configure which incoming port should talk to what machine on what port.
If you are using a Linux router, you'll most likely do it with iptables.

What kind of router are you using?

Very helpful information!

Yes, I had to assign a static ip to my tcp/ip settings and forward from my default gateway to my open port using my dns ip and changing my registry to allow port forwarding. The first time through was quite a pain in the neck! To say the least.

Any suggestions on how a DMZ could be secured if it's outside typical firewalls?

I'm not just doing this to offer an office cam by the way, lol! My business partner and I are thinking about live interviews via remote video feeds and I'm trying to come up with a cost effective way to do remote feeds. How could a company provide a live (remote) feeds to a web page? Could this possibly be done via network air card? I know the video quality would have to be pretty low to do something like that but.... satellite? What other options are there?

anybody
