I forwarded a port and can view the service running from a remote location but it appears blocked locally?

I don't understand how and outside user could see my port but, locally it's not available. Could this be sme sort of IP conflict ?

I have a network of 4 computers on one router, I assigned a static ip to the forwarded connection (mine) but not to the rest of the computers... could this be the issue... I'm stumped?

I'm using a LinkSys BEFSR41

the local system isn't going through the same route as the remote one
because it's behind the router doing the port forwarding.

You could try connecting to an outside proxy server to test if you need. Or, if you just want local access, use the local port (the one being forwarded to) instead of the external (public) port.

Well... Hmm... I have been trying that. I set up a no-ip account to mask the ip address which I'm sure has nothing to do with this.

I have successfully port forwarded to my machine for remote access. When I type my own ip mms://xxx.xxx.xxx.x: (the port I'm forwarding too) and/or http://xxx.xxx.xxx.x :(the port I'm forwarding too) It still won't connect to the video file locally. I actually tried to connect through a proxy and it still wont allow me to view it locally... silly? Any one of the machines outside the redirect won't connect.

I'm thinking It's something stupid I'm overlooking.

I set the default gateway to redirect incoming ip and port requests for : (my port) to my static ip on 1 computer of 4 behind the router.

If what you say is the issue, I would be able to view the content on one of the computers outside the redirect, right? Well... That doesn't work either.

I wonder if it's a firmware flaw with my router....

sorry, I thought your post said, systems on the outside worked.

Could you post a screen shot of the router config?

I know I made it confusing I think.

What I meant was it wont connect outside the forward inside the network.

I can access remotely.

I think I know what I need now.

I think need to set up a local server outside of my machine...

Nope... It won't connect in any way locally. I can view it on any computer remotely.
