Does anyone have something similar to this as freeware? Or maybe an excel macro to do the same?

Basically, what I am trying to do is create a description file for some files on my computer. I have part of the description handy, but I have to wait for the rest until it becomes available. So I am using MS-Excel to create the foundation for the descriptions, then export the data to a text file, then go back to the excel doc to add in the new info. then export it back out to a text file.

Thanks!

Hi,

Can someone write up a macro that will save each row to a text file? Or help find a freeware program to do it? I found one as an example but it's not free

Thanks!

I don't use Microsoft products, but on Open Office you can copy the cells you want from your table, go to Edit->Paste Special choose text only and it does what you are asking. Might want to give that a shot in the MS product.

In tandem with my other response to your very similar post, you may want to import the excel file into word as a data source (for mail merge). You could then create any ole format you want from the data.

BTW: Please don't double post. Edit your original post if you have additional data you need to add.

Sorry I didn't explain that right, what I want, is to save each row to it's own text file, not to one text file.

Can't help you there if you're not a coder. If you were a coder, then you could just crawl the text-only version, splitting by line ending, and creating the files.

Sounds like you are trying to create a database.

Why not just use a database
