Hi,

I have an idea. To fullfill this idea i need help. Or sort of help, atleast. I am wondering if there are any pre-built web pages with a CMS tool. The structure would be much like a blog or it might even be a blog. However, through the CMS you should be able to post new content with A) image/video B) author C) sources. The viewers should be able to vote and comment on the images/videos.

Later on i am thinking that it might be good if the users/viewers could be able to register and log in so you can recognize the people and so on.

Now, if there's no pre-built pages like this one - about how much would the cost be to get it "custom made"?

If i left any crucial information out just shout!

Best regards

William

They all have, you design the template and the content goes into it.

So pretty much like the average blog/forum/CMS then.

You might try PHPmotion. It sounds like it might have what you want to get started.

I've never seen any blogs where you can vote "1-10" on each post. However, left this out in the first post but later on i might want to add things like a page where the 10 images/videos with highest score are shown automaticly and so on.

These features is something that i do not think that you would be able to do with a blog.

If i were to hire a team to set this up, even if it were only upgrade a pre-built page, would it be around $2'000 or $20'000?

Depending on your timeline, and the coder, you should probably look to spend closer to $200 to upgrade, and maybe $1000+ to do from scratch.

That sounds kind'ov cheap. Never used CMS myself but I remember that we used to hire companys to build CMS's for our clients (2-3 pages, quite simple compared to what I want, I assume). We payed about $4000. Might add that it involved flash though.

Checked PHPmotion out. I'm getting closer, but I guess when it's free you have to deal with ads and so on? Couln't find somewhere to buy a licens w/o advertisement.

That open source programmers would donate their time to building something they consider art, purely from the good of their heart, to help others, or for some other altruistic reason? Yep, it's possible.

WordPress itself came into being this way. As did Linux. And Apache. And a list too long to list.

haha, i do not think that's the case here

"A growing user base of over 100 000 webmastes have already downloaded PHPmotion" (http://www.phpmotion.com/)

and then they are probably either owners, part owners or affiliates to:

http://phpmotion.com/content/view/43/189/

they might not make millions but nor do i judge 'em by the profits they do make. great tools for the users/webmasters and a great business idéa.
