Hi. Could anyone give me some advice on this matter?

I need to create a desktop presentation application from a large Excel database.

I've converted the Excel to XML and using XSLT I've created a list of the information from which the clients need to be able to choose different options to bring different info up from the xml file. I 'think' that will be ok for me (although i'm looking at that now.)

They also want a search field so they can type directly into and bring up results. Can this be done from an xml file? Can ajax do this?

Or does anyone know any third party applications that offer such a service that I can use? I will only be on a desktop so I won't have access to a server. So I can't use PHP or mysql.
