I've pretty fluent in HTMl and CSS and recently i have been wanting to do a few things to help me with my site these are:

A log in feature that allows people to log in and edit text that is displayed on each webpage.

Also a news feature. Where I or another person could log in then fill in a form for it to be posted somewhere on the main page.


For awhile now i have been wondering how to even go about doing these and was hoping somebody here could give me an idea of how i need to go about doing it.

To do that you will need some knowledge of server side scripting/programming. I would suggest PHP as all hosts provide it it is quick to pick up and there is tons of demos and it's main site php.net has excellent documentation to help you.

Yea php would be your best bet, php and mysql works great together plus they are free and pretty easy to learn.
