Hi There,

Here's something to get you programmers thinking...

First let me explain the problem I am having. I am having a problem with storing images on my server...Sounds simple so far...But, I have lots of images (many thousands worth) and here's where it gets 'dicey'. Currently, they are all stored in one folder on my server. My supplier provides me with all the images so I get them 'as is' meaning I don't have anyway to make sure all the images are named differently. I noted that when I upload the images to my server, some of my previously stored images are getting over written by the newer images. Must have the same filenames.

My supplier might have their images stored in there own category / subcategory folders on their server...Which is why they don't get overwritten.

Let me be detailed: My current shopping cart Sunshop 3.2 (by default) stores ALL product images in the same folder...

I don't like that idea for one simple fact...The possibility of having older images get over written by new images because of the same filenames...So to continue on to my next question:

Question 2. Would it be possible to avoid the problem of overwritting older images, without having to rename each one? Sorry for being so novice.

Thank alot!

I suggest hiring a programmer to make you a script that takes all of your NEW image files and runs a check for older files before uploading them. If the image does not not have an older partner then it should upload it. If not write it to a log file so you can decide what you want to do.

Hi There,

Thank you very much for your reply, I will do that as I have already found me a decent programmer. I will ask him about that and see what he says.
