Hi,

I need to develop a wordpress or xhtml website that will give the option of uploading and downloading files to the server for users. I will probably buy a a wordpress theme from one of the theme stores to make things easier the developing a hard coded xhtml website.

I want to have a section where users log into the website to upload and download files to their separate accounts. Also, probably provide a captcha for emails to reduce spam.

Is this possible and how would I go about it as I am haven't had too much experience with Wordpress itself and setting up user accounts with upload privileges.

Look forward to any help and suggestions on how to go about this.

Do you mean allow random people to sign up and upload files? Or, YOU manually create a user account for someone to upload their own files?

There are membership plugins for Wordpress.

What "type" of files are you allowing to upload/download? (images, text docs, etc.?)

Sorry, I mean I setup the users manually as it will be strictly limited users who will have access to the site. In example, a graphic design business wanting to give several clients access to their server so they can download and upload files their files for a project.

The files will mainly be images, text, etc...

This would require some type of security so that only that user has read/write access to those files.
