How do you differentiate a developer from a coder or a programmer?
Coding is an activity that revolves around writing a code of a mark-up language such as HTML and XML in addition to the conventional code writing process. When it comes to programming; it is a method that is quite similar to coding.
However, it generally refers to the process of writing a code in a “proper” programming language; for instance, C or Java. In programming, many more actions are involved. It also covers debugging and code compilation apart from the normal coding. Talking about development, it is a wider term that comprises the entire software or web development project.
Basically it is said that a “software developer” needs to have a wider set of skills that consist of project management and communication skills due to which the professional has to be more commercially aware than the “programmer”. When compared to the software developer, the programmer gains the junior position and the key task is to write the code on the basis of prescribed specification.
