I have a customer with a large site that they have decided to have a blog on & also a calendar that links into the blog. So when calendar items are entered they appear in the blog list ???o I need a CMS system ???

Does anyone have suggestions how I best approach this task.

Code from scratch in PHP or ASP (with MySQL or even ACCESS) or look for an open source utility that I can plug in ??

If there are resources available out there that would be great - any suggestions to the best ones would be terrific thanks

I have been told to look at Joomla ??? any one know anything ??

I am not even sure I need a CMS as I can script a simple news area or blog very easily & maybe even link to a calendar

But if there are free plugs ins to use that will work then why not eh

Why not you try Wordpress? It is really easy and more customizable for any MySQL & PHP based CMS.

I have never used wordpress so will check it out & see how easy it is - maybe try it on my own site as a test

as long as I can fit it into the same design so it looks part of the rest of the site that may well be a great solution - although its not really the blog thats the problem as I can code that in asp quite easily - its the CMS really I am realising that is giving me headaches

Yes, plus you can convert your site into wordpress too,.
