hi there, i posted a topic similar to this quite a while a go, about where i can get scripts that i could use for a dating website. someone was kind enough to point me in the direction of hotscripts.com but unfortunately you have to buy the scripts. is there another alternative? i am also having trouble of implementing a chat room and forum. i have signed up for a free forum and registered with phpbb.com but i am only able link to it externally and not have it actually integrated into my site, is there a solution for this? as for the chatrooms i am currently searching on google for the scripts for a chatroom, which it does find ok but i can't even put my sites banner on the chat window, is there a way around this?

sorry for the silly questions but i have only six months web design experience, i would be grateful for any help or a point inthe right direction.

you sound a lot like me, which means unfortunatly i cant help you but i can tell you that im pretty sure you cant integrate a free forum into your website orelse im really stupid because i didnt on my site. Also www.invisionfree.com is a better free forum in my opinion, they only have 1 google banner and no popups. And i have no clue about chatrooms but if you find one i would like to know so i can put one on my site..

I'm not so sure about the dating thing, you could try www.javascript.internet.com - but don't hold your breath.

About the forum - if you don't want to use PHP you can use the Snitz forum, found here: http://forum.snitz.com

You can get free chat systems from hotscripts - or even bravenet *shudder*.

You can integrate phpbb into your website, although this requires a good amount of mod coding. As for a free dating system I really do not think you are going to find one.

Do you think it's really worth it though? If you do decide to spend some money on this do you think your site will et much traffic - just think what you're up against...

From the eyes of a customer, the last thing the Web needs is another dating site.
Imagine you were on the web looking for a date. Wouldn't it be nice if there was only one site that you could sign up for, which would mean everyone else looking for a date online would probably also be signed up to that one site. The way it stands at the moment, there's thousands of them out there. People don't want to and probably won't sign up to many dating sites to get more of a chance of meeting someone. The two main things that I'd look for in a dating site are how big it is, and how localised it is. (People usually prefer to meet people close by...). The probalam with a localised site is that it'll be harder to get more people signed up.

From my personal point of view, I'm currently looking for a g/f. I did contemplate signing up to a dating site at one stage however due to the reasons stated above, and a few others, I've decided not to touch them.

I found many free chat rooms im just not smart enough to get them set up i think i found a bunch at thefreesite.com and they have a chat section

What is the point in putting a chat room in the same place as a forum?

If ou've got thousands and thousands of members it might make sense... you know some may prefer chat rooms to forums and vice versa...

If that is the case then hae it on a seperate page.

Well obviously it would be on a seperate page but I mean on the whole site...

etwon was giving the free script of dating sometimes ago but right now i am not sure. i will advice you that you should hire a programmer for the dating site as well as other functions. If you will search for free scripts, it will be the waste of time. Second thing that custom programmer will make the script as you want and as per your needs. And one thing more that hire a programmer is very cheap as PHP is very well known to the most designers companies and they have good programmers.
