I am thinking of making a niche-specific file uploading/sharing site - something like megaupload, hotfiles, or rapidshare for example - just without the annoying popups, ridiculous flashing items everywhere, and illegal warez lol. Is there a script somewhere that would allow me to create a site like this and easily manage it? i'd like to offer a basic free account and then a couple of premium account versions.

I love wordpress, so if there is a way to that with wordpress I'd love to hear about it, but do realize sometimes wordpress is not always right for every type of site, so open to just about anything - free or paid.

Why not use Drupal? you can use it to create file sharing website and it is completely opensource.

There are so many big players with dedicated hosting designed for file sharing, don't expect to be a viable player in the file hosting market.
