For some reason my site has quit loading in a frame at traffic exchanges and I would guess any other type of program that loads sites in a frame as well. It was working fine and I have not made any changes, as far as I can tell, that would have caused this. When I click on the "test your site" link (at TE) I can sometimes see my site for a split second then it seems to jump to a blank page, other times just the blank page shows. It is not breaking out of the frame, it just won't display in it. I find frames, for the most part, very annoying and subsequently have learned nothing about them so I am at a complete loss on what to do or why this is happening.

Could this be a change my host has implemented to stop sites from loading in frames?

Is there a script that can be used to ensure my site will load inside a frame if necessary?

Any ideas greatly appreciated

thanks,

Frances

Not sure. An example link would be helpful. Could be a coding mistake that is only surfacing now but no way to know unless you post a url.

If you mean a link to my site here you go http://www.canadianowned.ca/ just be warned I'm a long, long way from knowing what I'm doing so it might look terrible in your browser window.

Well I don't have a program to check it right now but I have put your page through the w3c's validator (http://validator.w3.org/) and it came up with over 100 results of coding errors. You might want to go [url = http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...ianowned.ca%2F]here[/url] to check out those results.

Also I have had a quick look at your sites code. You have some javascript on your page which caught my eye. In the code there are a few references to "self". This is fine when no frames are present but if there are frames then you have a problem. It would require some complicated javascript understanding to explain why this is but I also noticed this peice of code:
Code:
if (auto)
window.onload=dynamiclink
This "window.onload" might also cause problems.

I am not possitive this is why you are receiving a blank page but I would bet it is. Many affiliate and traffic programs use bad javascript code which causes browsers to hang or not show pages. I guess the only way to try and find a way around it is to eliminate errors from your html and javascript.

Thanks for taking a look. I have used those validators myself and found alot of the errors they come up with are out of my league so fixing them will take a bit of time. I'm just suprised that this has happened all of a sudden since I've been using traffic exchanges for the past 4 months and had no problems.

It could be that the changed their javascript code and it just didn't work quite right with your site. If you have questions about errors that the validator gives you then feel free to ask. Good luck.

well I seem to have gotten it working. Not sure how but I think it had to do with my counter & guestbook. The site I get them from is moving servers so maybe..........

anyway once I removed the code for them & uploaded the page again it now will display within a frame.

Ok just a couple tips. First thing you need to do is move your <!DOCTYPE> tag to the very top of your document.

Next is to go through the errors and fix things. I think you might be getting an error on the height because the previous line is an error on the width=100% (which the validator says needs quotes around the 100%). Sometimes one error will spawn another. If you clean out some of the errors then chances are that other errors will start disappearing.

Ok down to 24 from 111 errors. The rest mostly have to do with attributes & elements so I guess I'm off to find some tutorials on coding. The <!DOCTYPE> error was just a booboo, I copied the top 12 lines twice that's why it showed on line 13 as well. The clock & banner rotation scripts I was using had a lot of errors too. Really, really hope I can figure out how to fix that banner script as it took me about a week to find it and get it working the first time.

Oh well, such is life.

Thanks for your help dk01
