Here is my predicament. I'm trying to put together a cd extra section on a cd for my band. What I want to to is have a offline web site pull up when the cd is loaded. I want to have a frame on the left with a drop down menu and a frame on the right to load everything to. I can do all this. The problem is I want to have videos and the cd audio that play in an imbedded player in the right hand frame. I have no clue how to do this or if its even feasible. I can imbed a player but I dont know if I can do it completely offline. Could somebody please tell me how or point to a website that can tell me. If its not feasible, I'm open to suggestions on alternatives.

In theory there is no reason why you shouldn't create this page exactly the same as you would for the web. You will need to ensure that all links are relative (/something/page.html) for example and that no external graphics are linked.

To make the web page open automatically you will need to put an autorun.inf file on the CD. A quick Google search will help here

With the music, putting embedded music players is fine, as long as the user has the correct player installed. You could look at providing multiple embedded players (depending on space) or using a player that everyone will have (e.g. designing for Windows Media Player 5).

Another option would be to put a free music player insallation file on the CD and pointing people to that from the opening page (I think Winamp can be distributed like this, if not, try QuickTime).

A third option would be to use Flash (if you have it). This is so widely installed that if you put the sound into a flash file then it will play on about 98% of computers with web browsers installed.

If you have flash, you could consider making the whole 'site' using it. Then, you could export as an exe file, and as whatever the mac format is (anyone?), then the user would have everything they need to view and listen to your work.

Hello Kurt,

David has rightly suggested the use of Flash, Flash make a webpage much more dynamic. The only problem is that importing Movies and sound in flash increases it's file size. You can aslo try an alternative method of embedding an Active X in your document and the link it to the file on your Cd. This will reduce the file size of your document.

Just a sugestion buddy.
