Firefox is a new browser, which is much safer than IE, it blocks all popups and also prevents alot of spyware and viruses from getting onto your computer from malicious websites.

Would you want tutorials in JavaScript, or a program to make it?

When I learnt JavaScript(ish) I armed myself with Notepad, Firefox, and Venkman (Javascript debugger that works in Firefox)

I use notepad, though any editor capable of saving plain text would work.
If you would like Dev c++'s debugging facilities, I too suggest Venkman.
If you are looking for syntax highlighting, EdipPad pro has that feature.

the best way to learn javascript is to take all of your old code,
and add javascript functions to them, such as javascript verification
of the data inputs.
the learning curve is quite high for javascript, and javascript is not
entirely consistant anywhere, so expect a lot of random errors.
