hey guys,

I'm looking for a way to allow my users to upload pretty large files (6 megs). I know PHP has excellent functions for this, but unfortunately max_upload_size is set to 2M and my host won't change it.

Is there another way to implement some sort of FTP-access on my site? Has anyone done this or do you know links to tutorials or ...

Thanks in advance.

If you use CPanel, there is an option on there for FTP accounts.
I belive there are similar options on Ensim and Plesk.

I know how to add FTP-accounts, but I want to find out how I can offer a simple form, with a 'Browse' button and an upload button, so users can upload files easily (without having to start an FTP-client) without using PHP.

Since your host limits you to 2mb using php and won't change it, you may want to consider perl as an alternative file upload handler. Once perl is finished with the file, just pass the file info back to a php script

Also, have ou tried using ini_set() to see if you can mess with the value there? Some host do not secure PHP as much as they should, so a hole may be available for you to do so.
