Does anyone know if there is a code for changing resolution on a website?

For Example:
On a website it says
"Best Resolution 800x600"
Then if someone wants they can click the "800x600" and it changes they're computer resolution to that.

As far as I know, it can't be done. There might be some javascript you can use to pop up a new browser window of a specific size though. Can anyone advise?

Resolution change is handled by the OS, not the browser, and besides that, a website that blanked your screen to change your res would really be annoying!

Why not just design a site that looks good in any resolution?

You can't change your computers resolution from within a webpage. Think how dangerous it would be if it was possible for a page to alter system settings on you pc. Also what about all the people who access your site using mac or linux based computers?

The best way to control your sites dimensions is through css. You could create several style sheets designed for different resolutions, the visitor could then click on the one that is appropriate for them and the page could reload using that one.

Take a look at www.csszengarden.com for an idea of the sorts of things you can do with simple CSS files.
