Hello,

I have been looking for a search script that will work with my shared hosting linux package and will search all the content of all the pages in my site. I am using freefinds hosted service at the moment and would rather not have to pay for this service.

If you have heard of or tested any good scripts then please let me know. It would also be a bonus if it showed the statistics of what people were searching for.

Thanks,

G

What i want is a script which i install in my shared hosting package that search pages on just my domain. I have thought about using the google search but they put adverts in and if a page is not indexed in google will it show up on the search?

Hi,

I used to have this script (a few years back) that used to be perfect for just my basic 'html' site, meaning no included scripts that generate search function, like my e-commerce site that I have NOW, and I was in the same boat as you, I can guarantee that one The only thing with this script that I am going to show you, does require some thinking, but if you think while using it, you will love it, the search engine results page can be completely custom to your preference! You can log your 'customer' searches, another words, you can see what they are typing into your search box right on your website...

P.s: It's a database script, but it's perfect for search engines for your personal website...I've used it, I KNOW it WORKS...They have a support forum on their website, so feel free to ask questions on their forum...

The program is called: Webdata
The Website is: http://www.webteacher.com

Good Luck on your site!

-Brian

It looks good but its a bit pricey, it would be cheaper to stay with my current hosted search at www.freefind.com. I was hoping to find an open source script or one that doesnt cost a lot. I have seen scripts out there before but never made a note of them and i have just searched through countless pages at hotscripts with no joy.

The search for a search script continues....

I imagine that all your pages are static and not in a database of any kind....

This is written in Perl but it is one of the best scripts of this kind that I have ever found and have used it myself on various occasions.
