When submitting to search engines and altering my website code (from index.htm to my homepages actual www. address) should I be using a / after the address or is it ok without it?

Little bit confused on this one. I have heard some conflicting reports (rumours).

I don't want to make a mistake. I am about to change links on over 200 pages from index.htm to my websites www address (is this a good idea?) and want to get it right!

not 100% essential but having the trailing "/" does save a minute amount of server processing. Without it the server has to do an internal redirect from domain.tld to domain.tld/ then do a second redirect to the default document.

You can simply use href="/" to reference the hostname rather than use absolute hostname references in your pages as well.

btw submitting to search engines will do no real good at all. You should submit to directories.
