not 100% essential but having the trailing "/" does save a minute amount of server processing. Without it the server has to do an internal redirect from domain.tld to domain.tld/ then do a second redirect to the default document.
You can simply use href="/" to reference the hostname rather than use absolute hostname references in your pages as well.
