I need to implement a low-budget (pref free) search on a site. I currently use Google, but as the site is large & frequently changing, new/changed pages are not always being spidered quickly enough, so the search does not include up-to-date results.

I have also used zoom, which I can control and updaye when I need to, but I do not like its output format and the fact that it cannot link to the position of the found text on the page, just to the page

Has anyone else got any advice on good site-wide search tools?

You'll have trouble getting it to do this - it requires the insertion of <a name="fred"> at the relevant point, which could only be done if the page is viewed via a script which alters, then passes through, its source. The same goes for keyword highlighting.
