i'd really like a script like the one used for the search functionality in this forum.
it doesn't need to do owt' except drop down and look pretty, no search, just some links.
i'd borrow the script from here but i have too much respect for this forum! and i know diddly about vbscript

anyone seen a script the likes of?

;p

It's Javascript that makes that search box come down like that.

I haven't seen that particular script before myself, but there are a ton of dropdown scripts at www.dynamicdrive.com . Maybe you can start from there and learn Javascript just enough to tweak it to suit your own evil purposes.

A much better system for drop down menus is the suckerfish menu

http://www.htmldog.com/articles/suckerfish/

It's essentially set up using lists and css. There's a small bit of javascript for IE though much less code than is typical for drop down menus.

It's easy to build multi-level menus with it and the articles in the link above describing it are easy to understand

I discovered it a few months ago. It's light, easy to maintain, and even validates for accessibility. The basic concept is pretty ingenious and I only wish I had thought of it myself.

Oh and the whole thing is free.

Another good place to learn drop down menu's utilizing only HTML and CSS is at Listamatic. You can learn the basics here and then once you get the idea, elaborate as much or as little as you want.

Just my 2 cents,
