Anyone have any thoughts on Etelos, good or bad? I can't find much information about it.

New programming language that claims to integrate the OS, DB, Web Server, Mail Server and Development Environment into one platform. The only information I can find about it is their own write up and one other article. I must say they make it sound good:

It sounds like a bad idea to me.

The whole point of having each of these things (OS, DB, Mail Server, web server, etc) seperate is so that people can pick what's most suitable for their needs. How can they be so confident that Etelos will be suitable for everybody's needs?

Also, many enterprise level web applications need to integrate with existing databases and mail servers. The app I'm currently working on integrates into a SQL Server. If I were to try and do it in something like Etelos, it just wouldn't work.

And what's the point in integrating the OS into it? The current OSs on the market have spent years in development and the people developing them really know what they're doing. It's the same with web servers and mail servers. These are things that are on the forefront of the line of security and personally I would be more likely to trust existing products.

I have a client that uses Etelos and I have found these guys to be pretty cool. Not for everyone, but for the average business - it's good stuff. I think the demo's on their programming language EASE explain their position pretty well.
